I have an old Compact Flash card that I decided to format as to fastest
way to clear the data off. So I put it in the card reader on my Mac and
told it to erase it and create an MS_DOS(FAT) volume. This is did, but
now my HP 200LX won't recognize it at all.

None of the options in the disk utilities seem to help. (They all want
to create bootable disks or Apple partitions or some such.)

Help?

Be braver. You cannot cross a chasm in two small jumps.

And as a follow-up, I tried formatting three cards on a PC, both as
FAT16 and FAT32. Neither format was recognized by my HP 200LX. The
cards that do work in my HP 200LX are FAT12 and FAT16, so I'm not sure
why the FAT16 formatting doesn't work.
