Anyone out there with an AS/400 type system with more than one type of
tape drive?
Specifically, one of the drives should be quarter-inch format such as
SLR and the other could be almost anything. A friend of mine needs to
have a QIC backup tape (not much data on it) copied to any one of
these types: 3480/90, 3590, 3570, DLT, LTO, 4mm, or 8mm.

Anybody out there who can help me? A physical block for block clone
doesn't work, since QIC-type drives write everything in a single block
size, and an AS/400 will reject such a format on "regular" tape drives
like 3480. That's why I believe this needs to be done on an actual AS/
400 system with both types of drives.

Thanks.

The chartered NG for AS/400 [OS/400, iSeries, i5/OS, System i, &
POWER with IBM i] is comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc rather than here;
rather than anything in the alt. hierarchy. Probably better to post
there. This group gets almost no traffic, so there is also unlikely
to be many readers here.
