When I started Quicken today, I got a screen saying how critical it was to update to release 9, for security purposes. I looked at my About Quicken screen and it says I'm at release 7. The online instructions for applying this update say to simply to a one step update, which I do every day anyway, and it would tell me if an update was available, tell me what was in it, and provide download instructions. I don't get any of this, just my usual financial updates.

There also appears to have been a Release 8 in March, but I sure wasn't aware of it.

What's this about and what am I doing wrong? Is it safe to apply the Mondo patch, which is available manually on the same site as the instructions?

That's where the Quicken update message took me, and there were instructions on the whole process. They just didn't match anything I saw when I followed them, so I am not sure whether to do anything about the update.

Of course. They take me to the same page the Quicken update did and didn't answer my questions. I wanted some feedback on why the instructions didn't match anything that I saw or experienced during the process and whether the update was safe to install. It makes me uncomfortable when I get an email telling just to click a link and instructions will walk me thru the steps I need to follow to do the process, but there were no step by step instructions at all.

I ended up installing the upgrade manually, against my better judgement because I much prefer to hear other's experiences first. I'm at release 9 of q2014 now, and immediately was prompted for my Intuit Id. Fortunately I had one, but don't use it. I haven't read the threads on the issues or purpose of the ID yet, but since I've only been prompted for it once, its not causing me any trouble at the moment.

jo,

The instruction to go to Tools > One Step Update are wrong. If you aren't
aware by now, Quickens Help File is about useless. Look for instructions on
how to do something in windows version Quicken 201x and you most assuredly
end up on some other years versions and most likely for a Mac.

They do not update their help files and if there was any viable competition
to Quicken, we would probably all be using it.
