I was updating some stuff in Quicken tonight and went to see if
I could add my Citibank credit cards for online access (again).
I found something listed under "Citi Cards" under the online
banks list, and sure enough, that's it! I fed it my
userid/password from their online site and it found all 5
accounts I have defined there. I then did a download and it
found all of my transactions from the last 7 months. I am a very
happy camper!!!

I noticed that too, and I did the same thing you did, but when I do one-step updates, it does not get new transactions (I have a monthly recurring charge for the auto toll tag on a toll bridge I have to cross daily). That transaction is on Citibank's website when I log in manually, outside of Quicken. Wonder if Citibank just updates your data to go to Quicken at the end of the statement cycle?

This is also true for some of the non-obvious CitiBank cards, like the
AT&T Universal cards (which AT&T sold to CitiBank a few years ago.)

Like somebody else posted, data is only available for download after the
statement closes.

I tried to do a direct download as well, but no luck. Of course, like I
could for a long time, I can download via WebConnect from Direct Access
<https://web.da-us.citibank.com/signin...> (not the whole url).

I tried mightily to subscribe to a direct download, but couldn't. Bill,
were you able to set a Citibank charge card for direct download into
Quicken? If you were able to do that, could you post the steps here (I'm
using Q2002 DL, US), or, if you think that's more appropriate, email me
at mjbroek at med dot cornell dot edu? A huge thanks in advance!

But it worked great. Here are the steps I followed Hans:
1) Went to the Overview of the credit card account
2) Put the cursor in the Financial Institution field.
3) Chose Citi Cards from the drop down list. Online Account Access now said
available, not enabled
4) Click on enable
5) Supplied the userid I have been using to log on to their site
6) Supplied the password
7) It found the credit card and asked me to confirm it.
8) after that I was able to doa One Step Update and it downloaded all of the
transactions for this calendar year.

Couldn't do this at first since I had Web connect enabled.

Indeed

Yes indeed. Fantastic!
Except that the matching was no good for many of the transactions,
despite exact date and amount matches. Even if I made the payee match
exactly by copy and paste, no cigar. Why oh Why?

You have to be registered to see the accounts on what used to be
www.accountonline.com (not sure what it is now, but they
redirect you). It is completely separate from "Direct Access"
link that you posted. The userid/password you create on the Citi
Cards site is what you need to feed it when you set up the cards
in Quicken.

Yeah, I have my AT&T Universal Card there (amusingly I got a $5
credit on it for signing up for online statements; of course I
never use the card so they sent me the $5 after 3 months). I am
waiting for the former Associates cards to show up there, my
Sunoco card is with them and Citibank bought them a few months
ago.

I have no explanation for why matching didn't work for your transactions.
It downloaded 180 transactions for me and each of them matched correctly,
even though the name or the date wasn't an exact match on several of the
transactions. I did step through each one, just to be sure. I'm using
Quicken 2002 Deluxe.

Actually there was one transaction that I didn't already have in the
register, from April 5. All of the transactions that were downloaded were
in date sequence except the April 5 transaction was at the very end. Since
the account had been reconciled manually each month I know that transaction
hadn't been entered or processed previously. I have to think the vendor
simply processed it late, but it an interesting coincidence that the only
transaction that hadn't been entered in the register manually also showed up
at the end of the list, after transactions from this July.

Sorry for misspelling Han. Thanks for pointing out the Dutch difference.

The problem was that I first had to disable the webconnect setup for my
cards, then I could very easily follow Bernie's great step-by-step
instructions. And, yes, indeed, my ID and PW are totally different at DA
and citicards.

I had the same experience -- one extra transaction, out of date
sequence, at the end of a long list of downloaded transactions all of
which had been reconciled. But my extra one was a duplicate of one
of the pre-reconciled ones. So I just deleted it.

Thanks for info - I tried following your directions.......

After I supplied the userid and password, I got to a screen where the
account number was shown with all X's except for the last 4 digits - should
I leave it as is, or change the X's to the proper numbers?

Just leave it alone, that's only the account name as it's being
shown from your registration at the Account Online site. Did you
finish the setup and download your data from Quicken??? Once
it's showing you the list of cards, that is confirmation that it
accessed your registration information and you should be home
free.

I have had a Citibank USA credit card since 2000, and have been able to
download my statements from Quicken since then.

Personally I wish all my banks supported this feature. I hate having to
manually enter in transactions, or importing them from the web.

I don't want to doubt you, but I have a hard time believing you
on this. Many of us have tried to do this for a LONG time and
been told by Citibank that it was not supported (and it didn't
work). Maybe you have were using Webconnect or something like
that, but this new feature lets you enable normal Quicken Online
Banking for the account and download the information using One
Step Updates or normal online banking features. If you were able
to do it this way, they must have been doing something for you
that they were not doing for the rest of us.

Folks,
JWolf6589 is correct, Direct download is available, (though don't expect
Citibank to tell you how to do it anywhere on their web site).

Here is what I did to get my accounts, which I had been using Web Connect
download on, to be Direct Connect Download.

1) Update you financial institution list. Finance- Online Financial
Institution List
You will notice that there is now a Citi Cards financial institutions
and that Citibank Web Connect is no longer listed.

2) Go to teh Overview tab of the register of the credit card you want to
change. Disable online access. Quicken will warn you that you are about to
delete your connection info.

3) Click the drop down arrow on the Financial Institution box (still on the
overview page). Select Citi Cards as your financial institution.

4) Online Account access should now say Availabme, Not Eaabled. Click this
to enable it.

5) Use your ID and passwrd from www.citicards.com as your ID and Pin.

Direct Download should now work.
It worked for me.

Good luck,
Now to see if I can get this working for my Citibank Checking too.

Citibank checking download has been working since forever, but
beware that if you are on a normal plan you may have to pay
$9.95 for the service. If you have a "Citibank Everything
Counts" account, with some non-trivial minimum balance spread
among accounts, the fee is waived.

I do not think CitiBank knows this is working even though it seems to. I
had the following Email exchange via their "Write to Customer Care" on the
www.citibank.com website.
You wrote: Looks like a wonderful change. I have only a CC account with
CitiBank. In the past, I could only d/l transactions via a .qif file
retrieval and then import after the statement closed. It looks like now, I
can use CITICARD to d/l even the unbilled activity directly into Q2002. I
cannot find any mention on your website. Will this continue? Is it free?
Citibank: At this time you may download statements only. There is no option
for downloading unbilled activity.

As near as I can tell, they say it simply cannot be done even though it
really seems to work very well. Perhaps this is something that they only
intended for the Q2003 beta testers during the summer. It seems to be free
(or at least I was not prompted to enroll in any paid service). Does anyone
have a definitive word?

Dunno if they know it exists or not but what you said is
incorrect. Going through Quicken, it does not download unbilled
activities, it's only available once your statement closes.

You are right... It was just transactions from the statement that Q2002 did
not match with the ones in the register. Sorry about that...
