Q2012D Printer Setup Window Will Not Open

Couldn't print a report, and had the subject problem (getting weird
errors whenever I tried it). Found the following workaround for what has
to be a bug:

There was no wpr.dat file anywhere on my machine, but there was a
wpr.ini file in the referenced folder. I renamed it, got the setup
window, selected my network printer, and was able to print the report.
Checked afterward, and there were no new wpr.* files anywhere on my
machine. I consider myself rather lucky, given the well-hidden and
inaccurate support article. However, I think it might take a newbie
literally weeks and weeks to get an answer.

You didn't tell us which Windows version you are running. In my Windows 7
Ultimate x64, there are NO wpr*.* entries in my E:\QuickenW folder tree, but
I find these 3 wpr*.* entries on Drive C::

I seldom print from Quicken, so I'm not sure whether my entries are typical
or not. Those 2008 entries may have been left over from some prior year's
installation. In case it matters, my printer is an HP 8500A
printer/scanner/copier, bought in January 2011, connecting wirelessly.

Then, using the Vista Advanced Search for everywhere and everything, the
file showed up. (Thought I'd done that before, but perhaps I screwed up.)
Regardless of the documentation problems and the existence of a
workaround, my main point in posting was to identify a bug, which really
ought to be addressed by Intuit.

be directly connected to MyPrinterName. My current Windows setup is to
MyPrinterName on NetworkedComputerName. The weird error messages
mentioned a problem with connecting to MyPrinterName, suggesting a bad

My solution

1. Stopped Quicken
2. Renamed / removed WPR.Dat in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\QUICKENW.
3. Restarted Quicken
