Since I was forced (by Traveler's Bank) to upgrade to Quicken 2000, I
have been downloading and importing QIF files from my bank. It worked
fine. But the bank formats the QIFs incorrectly for year 2000, and they
told me it would be much better to use the more robust QFX file for
updating my bank register.
Last night I downloaded my first QFX. But when I tried to import it
(using file/import/web connect file), I get a dialogue box saying
"Quicken does not have an online account to handle these transactions."
The dialogue asks whether I want to use an existing account or create a
new account, _but_ the use an existing account option is greyed out. So
my only option is to create a new account (which I don't want to do).
How do I import the QFX file to my checking account? What am I doing
wrong? I couldn't find anything that helps on the Intuit support site.
Thanks for any help or advice
Brian

Normally, this happens automagically when you do a one-step update, so you
don't have to import it per se.

The QFX file (it uses the OFX standard) is *much* better as it eliminates
duplicate transactions by performing a matching proces against existing
transactions in your register.

Go to the overview page for the appropriate account.
Set the third attribute ('Financial Institution') appropriately.
The Account attribute labelled 'Online Account Access' should now show
'Available, Not Enabled'.
Click on it and follow the directions.
