Thanks, but I'm presently running Windows 2000 with IE6
(under Windows 2000 Professional) with no problems at all.
I'll be installing XP next week, though, and was concerned
about whether I would need to upgrade to Quicken 2002.
Microsoft has a program you can run that will pre-check your computer
for known compatibility problems. You can download it from Microsoft (it's
rather large, 70M if I remember right.) I would hope the install CD might
have a copy on it too. You can run it before installing and make changes
before upgrading to XP (or do you plan to do a fresh install?)
Personally, unless you need to run programs that work under XP but not
2K (mostly games), upgrading from 2KPro to XP doesn't seem like it's worth
it. I have no plans to upgrade anytime soon. Win2K is stable and works
fine with everything I use.

Yes.

Probably.
I'm getting a new computer, and I'll be running XP on it. I
wanted to know whether I could put my copy of Quicken 2000
on it, or whether I needed to get 2002.

Thanks very much.
I would hope there would be some bug fixes between 2K and XP?

Been reading the answers to this question with interest, but I have a
specific question that hasn't come up yet.
Has anyone tried using Quicken 2001 (UK version) under XP with the multiple
users feature? I keep three different Quicken files - two of which are for
my use but the third is my girlfriend's accounts, accessible only from her
username.
I've found Quicken to be generally poor at understanding multiple users of a
machine (sound not functioning correctly, dodgy most-recently-used lists
that include stuff from other users) - has anyone tried this under XP?
Cheers,
Ian
I wonder if it relates to installing quicken in its own directory rather
than in the Program files directory. Any thoughts?

File permissions? In other words, has it been set so that each user's files
are private to them? That would have the effect you're describing I think.
I also took the plunge and upgraded to XP - no problems so far except
non-functional sound for a second user, and that was the case under W2K too.
Cheers,
Ian

Sorry - I meant the Windows file permissions. If you keep each
person's account files in the own areas (for example, in their own 'My
Documents' folders), then those account files will only be available
to the user who owns that folder. Annoyingly though, all user files
still appear in the 'most recent' list off the file menu.
Quicken, like an awful lot of Windows software, just doesn't seem to
have got the hang of multi-user systems and I suspect a distinct lack
of testing in that area to be honest.
Cheers,
Ian
