can quicken 2000 export a file excel can read?

You can do it in two ways. One way is to export transactions to a QIF file
which is comma delimited. You can load that into excel as a CSV
(comma-separated-value) file. The downside to this is that you have to
learne all the details of what the codes in the QIF file mean AND IT IS NOT
IN ANY EASY FORMAT to deal with in excel (ie one record spanes several rows
in your spreadsheet.

A better way is to print a custom report to a disk file. Several formats are
available in Q2K. Most versions of quicken will let you make a PRN file
which Excel can deal with.

One other thing. You might have to set up a print-to-file printer option in
Windows 95 or 98 to allow you to print to a disk file depending on your
particular configuration.
