When I open quicken, the program goes into hidding off the screen.
Unless I maxiimize the window, I can't see it on the screen.

If I restore it, I can't see anything. I tried to move it to the center of my screen, or to resize the image
to no avail. (These tricks have worked in the past),

I also tried to open a new empty quicken file (ie: very small) - and that didn't help either.

Any suggestions??

Close all of your programs except Quicken.
Minimize Quicken.
Right click on the task bar and select Cascade all windows or Tile all windows.

That should get you back in business.

Interesting solution.
I have seen this with other apps as well. It appears as if the restored
window is actually being positioned off the displayable screen (or sometimes
you can see just a sliver of it). At one point I resorted to updating the
registry for a particular app to change it's window position.
I'll try the tile/cascade setting next time.

I believe I've seen the same problem...like the program will not display
unless it is in the maximized mode? Well, I noticed the problem was
initially brought on by having a lot of other applications windows open,
then trying to pop Quicken forward. It wouldn't pop forward, so I minimized
it, only later to find that it wouldn't appear again unless it was
maximized. (Then when I'd try to "restore" it to normal size from the
maximize, the display would again disappear.) This frustrated me until one
day, inexplicably, again when there were many application windows open, I
clicked the "restore" button from the maximized display (which was obscured
behind a bunch of other open application windows) and magically Quicken
became restored to normal size, yet continued to display! I've gone through
several such incidents, not quite knowing what I did to get it stuck in this
problem mode, or what I subsequently did to get it unstuck. There is
obviously some sort of bug in the program. Perhaps it's something the
Intuit people who hopefully monitor this board will look at.

I couldn't get Garrett's solution to work, but I did stumble across this one:

1. Right Click on Quicken Icon in Taskbar.
2. Right click on "Quicken Window", should be the 3rd item from the bottom.
3. Left click Properties
4. Under the Shortcut tab, find Run, 2/3's way down. Mine was on Maximized. Set it to Minimized, click apply, then set it back to Maximized, click apply again, then Ok.
5. Right click Quicken Icon again, and Close Program.
6. wait 5-10 secs to let quicken close down, or follow the backup/upload dialogs to close, then wait the 5-10 secs.
7. Re-open Quicken.

It should reopen normally, and maximized. If you try to restore down again, the disappearing act happens again, and you have to repeat the steps again, so Just leave it maximized.....

MY MAC did that yesterday. I had to restart the computer. Can't figure it out. I thought it might be a Win 10 problem

Jetpi, that worked. Any idea why it happened in the first place? what caused this?

I've never tried (or even heard of) the technique suggested by poster Jetpi - so I have no reason to question it.

But I have had the problem of this discussion more than once before (though it has not occurred now for a very long time).

The underlying problem is that Quicken has lost track of where, on the screen, it is supposed to be. Quicken is (obviously) running but its window is positioned off-screen. And contrary to a previous claim in this discussion, there is no evidence that this is a Quicken bug: Quicken saves it's screen position in a Windows file; it anything interferes with Quicken saving its screen position, Quicken may start off-screen.

To get the Quicken application (or, I believe, any other Windows application) back "on-screen":
- hold down the SHIFT key while right-clicking the application icon in the Windows taskbar
- left-click on "Move" (which should turn the regular Windows cursor into the Windows Move cursor, which looks like a cross with arrowheads at each end)
- use the up/down and left/right cursor keys to "move" the Quicken window back on-screen (when I had this problem, Quicken was always off-screen to the bottom, so using the just the up-cursor key always brought Quicken back on-screen - YMMV).
- Once the Quicken window is visible on-screen, press Enter to get out of Move mode - the cursor should return to normal.
- At that point, the Quicken window can be moved and sized normally.

[NOTE: the Move option is only available for windows that are "restored". Even though - in this situation - you can not see the Quicken window, that window still has a status of "restored" or "not restored". If the Move option is grayed out when holding down SHIFT and right-clicking, just click "Restore", then hold down SHIFT and right-click again - the Move option should no longer be grayed out (and the Restore option should be grayed out.]

I do not know what specifically causes Quicken to lose track of its Windows screen location; but whenever I had the problem of this discussion, correcting it by using the Move feature caused Quicken to retain the Quicken window screen position (at least until whatever caused the original problem recurred), and the Restore feature worked as it normally does. I did not have to leave the Quicken window Maximized.

Thank you for this. My Quicken wouldn't appear on any screen but holding shift and right clicking the Quicken on the taskbar allowed me to "maximize" it. Many thanks!!!
