Hello,

Ijust paid off my car, but I will like to continue saving the monthly
payment, by directly depositing this amount into my savings account
(transferring $200 from checking to savings every month)

Is there any way to automate this in Quicken 2000 Deluxe?

I tried the scheduled transactions, but it won't allow me do a xfer, it only
accepts an online payee.

Can anybody help?

Luis

In the context of your question I don't understand "only accepts an
online payee". Ignoring that, what you want, I think, is to set up a
scheduled transaction for the checking account, $200,
category=[savings]. Put anything you want in the payee field;
"abc","monthly savings", ...

If I haven't understood - and no one else posts - please repost with
more detail: what you are trying to enter in which fields of which form.

I think Luis wanted to have Quicken automatically make the transfer at
the bank(s). I'm not sure that can be done other than by either:
1. Have Quicken automatically initiate an on-line transfer. For this
the accounts have to be (able) to be set up correctly.
or:
2. Have the bank perform an automatic transfer each period, and just
have Quicken record this transaction automatically. You (Luis) have to
inquire of your bank whether they can do this.

I have had automatic periodic payments and transfers done by CitiBank to
my satisfaction (between accounts at CitiBank, not between Citibank and
other financial institutions. I also have had automatic bill payments
to utility companies and the like).

Hello,

this is exactly what I want. Just like when you go to "Online center",
click on "Transfer" tab and select "From:" checking "To: savings" , enter
the amount and hit UPDATE/SEND, just that I want it to be done
automatically, scheduled, once every month.

I tried to do what Dick suggested, but that didn't work.

How's that that I have to contact my bank to set it up? What I want, is to
have control, if a specific moth I cant transfer that amount of money, then
I can skip it just for this month.

I'm starting to think that is not possible at all to schedule automatic
transfer between own accounts.

regards,

Luis

Well, I just went to a previous transfer that I had done between my
checking and savings accounts at Citibank, right clicked on the payee,
and choose schedule transaction. I could then set this up as a
scheduled transaction. I couldn't find how to set it up without having
a transfer already been performed. So maybe this is what you need to
try. Let us know how it turns out.

Personally, I would suggest to do this the way I first suggested:
Instruct your bank to set up a scheduled transfer. It would be easier
to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong (remember Murphy's law?) if you
have to deal with 1 institution (bank), rather than 3 (Quicken,
Checkfree, bank).
