In pursuance of the policy of Andhra Pradesh State Government, Corporation has implemented the facility of issuing free bus passes to all the students below 12 years of age w.e.f. 01.02.1984, to travel free from the residence to school and back, irrespective of whether the Institution is of Government, aided or a private one. There is no distance restriction for availing the bus pass. The facility is available in cities / towns and in rural areas.
Eligibility: The School / Institution shall be of Govt., Govt. aided or private registered one. The Head of the Institution shall certify the date of birth and bonafides of the students. Free route pass between residence and school will be issued by the nearest Depot Manager.

Corporation is issuing bus passes to the physically challenged, mentally retarded, blind, deaf & dumb persons to travel free by the buses operating in cities / towns. In case of services operating in rural areas, these physically challenged persons are allowed 50 % concession on normal fares. Escorts to blind and mentally retarded are allowed when accompanying them. These escorts are allowed for free in city services and at 50% concession upto ultradeluxe in mofussil buses
The General commuters, students and NGOs are issued with "GREATER HYDERABAD" passes in twin cities and Krishnaveni Darshan and Visakha Darshan passes being issued in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam cities respectively. The holder of this bus pass is allowed to perform unrestricted travel by city / suburban buses operating in that city in addition to availing the facility by Pallevelugu buses upto the destination and vice versa for which the ticket is purchased. The fare of this ticket is computed on the basis of monthly suburban General bus ticket plus the fare chargeable for the additional distance involved thereafter.
Eligibility:Â These passes are issued to general public and students. The cost of the pass is fixed at the base rate of Suburban General Bus ticket and additional fare beyond Suburban limits depending upon the distance involved.
Monthly General Bus Tickets are issued for travel by City Ordinary and Metro Express services at a monthly cost of Rs.1010/- and Rs.1140/- respectively. Holders of the pass are permitted to perform unrestricted journey by the services for which the pass is valid.
As per the policy of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the NGOs i.e., Govt. employees working in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada are being issued Monthly General bus passes for travel by the city / suburban services operating in these cities to enable them to attend to their duties. The employees will pay 1/3rd cost of the General bus ticket while the balance 2/3rd cost is reimbursed by the Andhra Pradesh State Government.
Eligibility: AP State Government employees working in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada whose pay is below the scale of Rs.44570/- to 121280/-(pre-revised) , are issued NGOs bus passes priced at Rs.340/- and Rs.480/- for City and Sub-urban travel respectively. The Controlling Officer will certify the bonafides of the NGO for obtaining this pass. The NGO will pay 1/3rd cost of the pass and the balance 2/3rd's cost will be reimbursed by AP State Government.
Monthly route passes have been introduced for the benefit of general commuters to travel by the city / town services operating in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada w.e.f. 01.04.2002. These passes are issued in three slabs i.e., upto 4 KMs., 8 KMs., 12 KMs,16KMs.,18KMs., and 20KMs.. Tariff for these passes is fixed at 20 days normal fare.
Eligibility:General public are issued with monthly season tickets in rural areas and route passes in cities/towns. The holders of this pass will be charged 20 days (one 'Up' and one 'Down') fare i.e., 1/3rd concession allowing them to perform journey on all days of the month.
The APSRTC provides a One Day City Bus Pass to the commuters. Using this pass, the commuters can travel in any non-A/c city bus within the Suburban limits for unlimited trips in a single day. VGMT provides the details as below:
For places outside the Suburban Limits, tickets can be taken from the respective suburban limit. Say if you are travelling with a TAYL from Besant Road to Vuyyuru in Route No. 333. Your pass is valid till Kankipadu and hence, you can take a ticket only from Kankipadu to Vuyyuru in the same bus by showing the TAYL.
Tirupati: The ordeal of the students in getting the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) concessional pass is coming to an end with the state run transport corporation decided to introduce issuing of yearly pass to the students avoiding them the trouble of visiting the RTC bus station every month to get the concessional pass to commute to their educational institutions for study.
Disclosing this here at a media conference on Wednesday, APSRTC Tirupati Regional Manager (RM) Timmadi Chengal Reddy said that the yearly pass will replace the monthly pass to the students saving them the time and inconvenience while the issuing of quarterly concessional pass to the students will remain.
In this connection, Reddy said that the RTC is taking up a drive to increase the number of beneficiaries availing concessional pass meant for differently-abled keeping in view of only about 25,000 are availing the facility in the district against more than one lakh differently-abled, as per official survey. RTC is ready to conduct special camps in association with the differently-abled associations and also arrange issuing of passes in the villages, if there are more than ten beneficiaries, he explained.
Answering a question on augmentation of bus services, he said 7 AC buses to various places from here including Vijayawada (4) Bengaluru (2) and Chennai recently added while one more AC bus each in the same route will soon be operated to cope with the increased passenger flow. As many as 165 new buses will be inducted to operate on the ghat road replacing the old ones Reddy informed.
