All the credit goes to Dad, who is a great carpenter, and who also owned all the correct tools necessary to build this desk. I could not have built this on my own.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Students can start with a blank project, a video, a photo, or an animation project. After students complete their animation, they can save the animations as videos, GIFs, PDFs, or an editable animation project.</div><div></div><div></div><div>I had a good time using Animation Desk for creating small ads, cartoons from time to time. It is easy and fun to use Animation Desk for short and quirky projects. I love its storyboard feature a lot personally. I do feel that its free version provides an user with enough tools and tutorial to help them step in the world of animation with ease. Hence, if you are just venturing in the field of animation, Animation Desk will be a great choice and sufficient for all your needs.</div><div></div><div></div><div>I tried to use this application and it is easy to use, and I like the graphic design. </div><div></div><div>I like getting a reward, just like watching advertisements. Also, they have tutorials if you don't know how to start your first art or animation.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Are you looking for a user-friendly animation tool that can bring your ideas to life effortlessly? Are you a professional animator looking to push the boundaries of your creativity and explore advanced animation techniques?</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Animation Desk Windows is a simple and beautiful software for creating animation, cartoons, and animatics. Your tablet is your animation desk. It is a user-friendly animation software for drawing frame-to-frame 2D animation. You can start from scratch or create animations on top of a video and photos with many tools.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Animation Desk combines simplicity and beauty, providing a user-friendly interface that makes animation creation a joyous journey. Effortlessly sketch, draw, and animate your characters using intuitive tools and watch as they come alive, capturing the essence of your imagination. With Animation Desk, creating stunning animations has never been easier.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Not very interesting... but thought that it's worth asking as these desks usually ask for a fair few of my hard earned spondoolahs (ok, maybe not hard earned :D ) and it's worth getting the most reliable for the price (if there is a single such desk).</div><div></div><div></div><div>First of all, always cut the hole a little bit larger than the disk requires. The reason the disk will bind or catch is because the hole in the desk is too close to the size of the disk. Cutting the hole about 1/8" larger than the disk requires will provide an opening that won't grab your disk as you spin. There is more than enough overlap on any good quality disk to accomodate the extra hole space.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Oh, yeah, those Allenwood desks are nice. With both Cartoon Carpentry and Allenwood gone I don't know if there is anyone regularly making high-end studio desks ? I guess there just isn't the demand for them. Custom-made is the way to go at this point , if you have the tools and skills , or know someone who does .</div><div></div><div></div><div>[for reference I'm attaching a few more photos , two of the Allenwood desks from their old website , and two photos of artists in a real live studio situation using the Cartoon Carpentry "Haskett" desks, and one more freestanding photo ofthe Haskett desk . In case anyone is ever so inclined to build one for themselves maybe these photos will give them some good reference for designs they can use to build their own custom-made desk]</div><div></div><div></div><div>I want to add that when using one of these portable desks or one of the compact drafting tables with a hole cut in it (like the kind from Cartoon Colour Co.) it is very useful to bolt a piece of masonite or thin plywood to one of the edges of the table top , to have room to clip on an exposure sheet or model sheets , as shown in the attached photo --</div><div></div><div></div><div>When using one of the wooden drafting tables from Cartoon Colour Co. or a similar table one should have a side unit with shelves for holding paper and supplies. Also useful would be a small folding table to stack completed scenes on. The side unit can be a specially made "scene stacker" like they have in professional animation studios or any sort of side unit "tabouret" like they sell at art supply stores for holding supplies (though those can tend to be expensive...any similar low profile shelf unit from Target would do... the important thing is that any shelf unit needs to have shelves big enough to hold at least 12 field size animation paper or ideally be able to hold 16 field paper). The pencil sharpener can rest on the top of the side shelf unit or mounted to the top of drawing table with a small wood extension that makes a sort of platform for the pencil sharpner to rest on. (again this could be done with cardboard and duct tape... ) Some people actually use rubber bands to strap on their pencil sharpener to one of the side legs of the drawing table , so it's under the desk top surface , then they can just reach under to sharpen their pencil . After a while you get used to where it's at and you don't even have to think about it : just reach down and under, sharpen, and resume drawing .</div><div></div><div></div><div>The attached images are from a production I worked on recently that was mostly outfitted with the Cartoon Colour Co. tables. I think the first photo shows why it's nice to get one with a larger table top if possible, so that there is plenty of room for model sheets and/or exposure sheet . You can see an indication of the side shelf unit in the foreground and on the other side of the animator's table you can see a folding table which creates more space to stack work , have a place for the phone, coffee cup , or whatever. It's all about trying to create a comfortable work space. The second photo shows what I referred to as a "scene stacker" (a shelf unit with multiple levels for holding separate scene folders) next to the artist's desk . You can't really see in the photograph, but there is a shorter side shelf unit in the foreground , to the artist's left.</div><div></div><div></div><div>I can't emphasize enough the usefulness of good shelf space and having your tools and supplies laid out in an orderly manner. It really helps workflow. The attached image in this post shows another animator at work on the same production that the other photos (above) came from, but notice that he is using a custom-made animation desk, with a very practical (as well as artistic) design: the shelves above the drawing area make it very easy for the animator to access paper, pencils, peg-hole reinforcements, the pencil sharpener . It's all there within easy reach.</div><div></div><div>If you're designing your own animation desk or adapting a pre-existing desk to your own work area then I would suggest having some sort of shelving above the drawing board, as well as having a shelf unit to one side of the desk and a small folding table on the other side of the desk.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The classic animation desks at Disney and similar ones had as much shelf space and drawers built-in as possible. It's not always necessary to make a desk as elaborate as those classic desks , but the basic configuration of having some shelf space above the main drawing table , as well as shelving off to the side to easily store and retrieve drawings is something to keep in mind when designing your own work space.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The table-top models from ChromaColour that beeblebrox mentions are good. Up until recently there was still one company left that specialized in making full-sized animation desks, Cartoon Carpentry. They seem to have gone out of business recently. (at least their website is not longer active)</div><div></div><div> and Alan Gordon Enterprises both sell a wooden drawing table with the proper size hole cut in it to take an animation disc. Those are my favorite , relatively inexpensive tables since they are easy to adjust height and angle . (the only disadvantage to the table-top models is you can't adjust the height) .</div><div></div><div></div><div>Animation Desk: The best app for all stages of animators.
