My Quickbooks Pro Ver5 for Windows is working on my Windows XP machine.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction as to where I can
download any/all updates for this old version of good software. I remember 1
major update shortly after it came out.

Thanks,
Jim

Intuit had 5 more after that in 1998. Version 5 was patched to R6. Good luck
in finding patches for that old piece of shit.

You can always try the wayback machine.

R7 was the last patch for venerable old QB 5.0 circa 1997/1998.

Have fun :)

As far as I know, the Basic and Simple Start versions use
the same updater. For QB2005 that would be:
http://ftp.quicken.com/pub/quickbooks/2005/r11/qbwebpatch.exe

Oops -- I should have written:

"As far as I know, the Basic and Simple Start versions use
the same updater as the Pro and Premier editions."

The first link in your list is for QuickBooks 5.0 (which came out
around 1997) -- back before they used years as the named version.

You need to get the second one for QB 2005. And I would
get it now and burn it to CD or something if you intend to
keep using QB 2005.

Thanks! I had no idea it had an R11. I thought I was all up to date. I did a
little Googleing and found another file.
Would you happen to know what the difference is between the one your
mentioning and the one I found? Which one do you
think I should bookmark (or save) for future use? The one I found is only
457Kb but the one you suggested is 61.5Mb

The question I'd ask is are Intuit updates cumulative?

I would like to thank all the helpful people for their useful information.

Installed the update, and all is well.

I don't think I've seen a regular update patch for
QB that wasn't cumulative.

That was nice of Ken to find those archived update pages.

John, you have QB 2005, right? The main QuickBooks site currently
lists updates going back to QB 2006, not "QB-6". QB 5.0 and
QB 6.0 preceded QB 99 and onward. As you mentioned in
a previous post, QB 2005 is file version 15.0.

To find a list of update changes, look for the link on the
download page under "Release Notes" or "What's New ... ".
The release notes page will have sections of notes. Each
note has the patch version at the end in parenthesis, such
as (R7).

One more question. I see I missed the last 4 updates.
Is there any documentation as to what these updates were for?

QB Web site seems to only go back to QB-6

More corrections to my own posts...

The link from my prior post is to the full installer for QB Pro 5.0 which
includes all updates to r7.

The links to the patch files to update an existing install is:
Pro
http://ftp.quicken.com/pub/quickbooks/win/5/r7/qbcdpro.exe
Standard
http://ftp.quicken.com/pub/quickbooks/win/5/r7/qbcdstd.exe

R7! I must have upgraded before that patch was released.

Hello all. I am hoping someone reads this... A friend of mine runs his own contracting business on the side and uses a VERY old windows 2000 machine with QuickBooks 5 on it. I received the Quickbook folders from the drive, but he can't find the installer disks for the software.

Does anyone know where I can download the original QuickBooks 5 from 1997???
