Hi there,

Thanks in advance for any help on this question. My wife is helping a
business owner try to fix a mess created by a previous bookkeeper. They use
Quickbooks Pro and Peachtree Accounting. Anyway, they are having trouble
locating the data files for each of the programs and it appears that they
were deleted or hidden by the previous bookkeeper.

Could someone please let me know what the file extensions are for the data
files so they can try to search the hard drives? I've tried to research and
have found out Quickbooks uses .qbw and .qba, but don't know if there are
any additional ones as well. Also, I haven't been able to find any out for
Peachtree.

Thanks so much for your help.

Randy

For QB you need only the QBW file. You can also use a QBB file (the
backup file) and "restore" the data from this file.

Peachtree uses at least ten DAT files in a subdirectory under the
Peachtree directory that is named for your company but in a weird way.
For example, my Peachtree directory is named robresco. I did not
create that name. Peachtree did from the name of the company which is
Roberts Research & Consulting. Go figure :-)

As mention in other posts, you may need Norton's Unerase, assuming the
computer is NOT being used.
The first thing you MUST learn after you get resetup is File Backup and AWAY
from computer!!!
