The best and most flexible software I have ever used is Yes! I can run
my Business by Database Creations, Inc. The company has been around
for years and is very popular with developers who customize the
software. I use the software right out of the box and love it. It is
very user friendly and allows the user or users ( I have been told it
allows upwards of 10+ users at one time) to be completely comfortable
with accounting. It includes a complete invoice, payable, banking,
inventory and g/l systems. You can store information about your
customers ( up to 100,000 of them) and have 10,000 inventory items!
The access software is sold with open source code that allows
customization if you want. There is over 100 company setup options
available to custom use the software the way you are used to keeping
your books. Free downloads are available at their website....

I abandoned this software because of the difficulty of working with it. It
is not user friendly at all. It does have the source but like anything else,
you may render a function useless by modifying the source code.

At $2,495 for a "Pro" multi-user? Um, I don't think so.

Proving once again that M$ Access is not child's play.

Hmmm, interesting. Just checked a basic multi-user on M$'s "Great
Plains" accounting software -- $2,495.

The costs upfront are not cheap..but you get what you pay for. The
open source code in yes! I can run my own Business will allow me to
make changes to the program in the future a lot cheaper then buying a
new software program and going through the process of learning new
software. Cost of training people on new software gets pretty
expense. This software is basic accounting with all kinds of options
if I choose to use them. The cost of 2495 is for the new software
called Business Pro. I am more familiar with the Yes! program.
Business Pro was just released last week and according to the company,
they have made all kinds of code changes and added a lot of new
features that now can either be turned on and used or turned off...all
in the company setup. They have added a lot of new inventory features.
I have downloaded a demo and may spring for an upgrade of Yes...only
$1595.00. I am curious if anyone has done a comparison to great
plains???
