I have a very old small computer which I want to use as a sort of
webcam server.
My problem is that it hasn't a USB port and there aren't any free
ISA/PCI slots.
So I am looking for a webcam which has a serial (RS232) or Paraller
interface, anyone know a type of a webcam which I can use?
Many thanks!
Greetings,
Finn
There are some issues.
Serial is likely to be very slow.
Some of the early quickcams were parallel
Alaris made some parallel cameras.
You may run into the following...
the drivers are so old they won't run on a modern OS.
the software you want to run won't recognize them or
won't run on a newer OS.
When you can buy a fast desktop or laptop computer
with USB for under $10, it doesn't make much sense to spin
your wheels trying to make old junk work.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your answer...
I think you are right, I am going to look for a more modern system.
