Bigger question - where did you get one of these cards? No one I've asked
has them for sale yet and even Herc says they are not shipping yet?!

A friend of mine has a tax id number and we were able to order them
direct from Herc. :-) However, it was a MAJOR pain to get the order
in and them shipped out. After lots of email, phone calls, and faxes
for a week everything was done and they were shipped out.

They guy from Herc did say that they NEVER expected this kind of
demand and were taken totally off guard...

Now, does anyone know what options I should have on and off??? :-)

Thanks!

I just received my ultra with no dvd or tv out from UPS today. It was
ordered 6/7.

I haven't gotten to play with the settings yet, but the damn thing
sure is fast.

Excuse me, but doesn't everyone have a Tax ID number? More commonly
known as a Social Security Number? About the only people that
don't have an SSN are undocumented aliens, they're just about
required at birth now for newborns. Hercules has had these cards
available on a direct-order basis since mid-May. Anyone can order it
directly from Hercules.

My only question would be how you got yours in a week when everyone else
is waiting 3-4 weeks right now for theirs.

Not SSN (duh) tax id for a business. Oh, and sure you can buy them
direct from Herc but I don't think you'll get it in a week since you
are not purchasing it as a reseller and get their Ultra w/ TV out and
DVD software for $198. But sure, go ahead and try and do the same
with your SSN... :)

Misuse of a Tax ID is a bad doobie.... I could have used work's tax ID to
order some since we do resell, but I don't like abusing it...

If you're going to misuse the Tax ID.. it's pretty dumb to brag about it in a
public forum...

There are several "tax id" numbers for business. One is from the IRS,
but the one that you are probably thinking of is what is commonly called
a "resale number" though the actual name will vary from state to state
and there are also State and local tax id numbers for various purposes.
It may have been more a stroke of luck that you got it in a week rather
than being a pest or anything to do with a resale card. Judging from
other postings and my own experiences with Hercules, they do not respond
to e-mail anymore, their tech support is unreachable, and their sales
number often goes into voicemail.

I'm sure posting your method of acquisition will be of enormous help to
anyone else who attempts this method of ordering, especially those with
legitimate businesses whose orders will now probably be ignored just
like those from consumers.

When everyone is finished talking about the Tax ID number, I too would like
more information pertaining to Stryker's question...

Thanks.

What is wrong with using a legitmate business to purchase a product?
Duh, isn't that how it works??? So what if he sold it to me at his
cost because I'm a friend and the sells retail to othe people? Herc
agreed to sell it to a legitmate business, which was verified by his
ID. What is unlawful or improper about that?!?! How is it going to
hinder others buying from Herc when he followed all of the processes
that Herc has established? It seems to me that my friend knows how to
conduct a business by getting the product in demand to resell!

Abusing? You are off your rocker! He has a legit computer business
and ordered Herc product and sold it to me, his friend, at his cost.
How is that misuse?

Relax.
