Nvidia has had TV out since their very first Video card, period and has
always had it since.
As far as special settings that you want to play with, there are plenty of
programs out there
which do exactly what you want. On the other hand, I'm sorry I can't point
you to them as I've
not had any interest in TV out in over a year in which there was plenty of
programs then which
accessed the Chrontel or Phillips chips directly at the register level back
then including the
ability to disable Macrovision protection that way one could play a DVD on
their computer and the output could
be recorded to a VCR or other device. I never got into illegal stuff
knowingly, but I do remember how neat that
feature was since I feel that Macrovision is a violation of the individual
as we all have a right to make a single
copy for ourselves to cover our investment if our investment media goes bad.
As far as Nvidia's TV output, it's minimal, meaning that you turn on TV
output and it works but is not full of tons
of little tweaks. If you want that in the drivers by default then Nvidia is
not the TVOutput solution for you.
On the other hand, are you looking for killer TV output tweaks, or are you
looking for an excellent video technology?
If you are looking for excellent video technology, then by all means, keep
your nvidia card and find some programs to
tweak your video output. If you remember, the Chrontel and Phillips chips
(along with the other chips Nvidia has used
over its history) has had some excellent tweaking functions. Right now, in
the latest chips, there is tons of scanline
conversions and flicker filter options, and even features you normally find
on a TV like analog and even DIGITAL comb filtering!
All you have to do is find the right programs which are available on the
internet and use them though I'm sorry I'm not a resource
for direct links to these programs. There is especially one person who has
been making a certain software for years now and always
updates it for the latest and greatest video in/out chips. The most superior
video in/out chip available is the one made by Phillips
and is being used on GF4 cards right now. Every single GF4 card with this
chip, has built in video capture though I've noticed some
manufactures have gotten cheap and didn't include the video in plug, which
is so cheap of them.
Anyhow, good luck guy on your mission. The solution is out there. I'm quite
positive for you.
