System: Windows XP Professional SP-1; 2.26 GHz, 1GB RAM; nVIDIA GeForce 4
4200 DVI (driver 3.0.8.7).

Just attached a Samsung 210T to my system. Analog @ 1600 is fine (although
the text, even with Cleartype, is less clear than I had anticipated).

Cannot run on digital at all - during POST text flashes pink & grey; Windows
sign-on screen is streaked pink; after log-on text and imagesd are
distorted, colours are totally incorrect, display very unstable. Display
card says its output is 1280, but monitor seems to think (based on OSD
Menu-Information option) that it is 1600.

Samsung documentation is equivocal on whether this display supports 1600 or
1280 digital, but based on reviews I have read I believe it should be able
to accommodate both.

If anyone has any ideas, I should be most grateful.

Thank you very much.

Have you loaded the monitor inf? This way the card will only use
resolutions and refresh rates supported by your monitor. Also do you fully
disconnect the analog cable from the monitor?

Thank you for the reply.

I now have the .INF for the monitor loaded. But have also tried it without
this and the result was the same. Upgraded the nVIDIA drivers to version
4.1.0.9, to no avail.

Have tried without the analog cable connected, again to no avail (this
monitor has a range of inputs - D-Sub, DVI, S-Video and composite - and is
supposed to support concurrent connections to all sources for PIP purposes,
etc.).

I noticed that - even with aanalog - text-only display (say, during POST or
when I access the BIOS) likewise appears as if through a major sandstorm
(and this doesn't stabilise until I get to the WIndows XP log-on screen) ,
so I am wondering whether there is a hardware problem - refresh sync or
something?

Interestingly, my graphics card fan has been running much morre noisily
since I installed this monitor (despite the fact that previously it was
driving a CRT at an even higher resolution and refresh rate). Does this
increase in fan actiuvity imply anything of note?

Again, any thoughts appreciated, but thank you for your help so far.
