Quake 3 Arena FPS

What framerate do people get in Quake 3 and what's your specs?

I know I could go to tomshardware and get benchmarks, but I want real
scores, ie. the FPS do you get in *normal* usage, in whatever resolution
you *normally* use, with whatever other programs loaded that you *normally*
have loaded. Don't set it up for benchmarks, but for playing. Unless you're
seriously hardcore and set it up for benchmarks when playing...

Basically if you load Quake 3 now, what do you get?

I'm not sure what demo should be used to benchmark as demo001 doesn't work
with the latest version (unless you use the hack that's going around).

I can't actually run Quake 3 ATM as it does work with my Voodoo 3 for some
reason, but here's some details and an estimate:
P2 333
160Mb
Voodoo 3 2000 PCI
BG programs: MIRC, Coolplayer, Cachemem, MainChek, Realplayer, EditorPro
Suite, Opera

Quake 3 settings:
800x600
medium detail settings

Typical FPS: 30.

When I was running with a PIII/800MHz and a GeForce2, I was getting about
85fps with most eye candy turned on. I checked only once since up grading to
a P4/1.4GHz, and it was in excess of 100fps.

Dood, your system sux. You are serious need of a faster cpu. :-) But you
know this already.....

Like you, I live to play not to benchmark. Since I recently got a 21" monitor I
play Q3A at 1280x1024 and 32bit colour. First I choose "High Quality", then I
set the 1280x1024 and select the "geometric detail" to "high". If I run the
demo127 I get 59fps.

Hercules Prophet II GTS 64MB OC'd @ 200/400
Duron 800 OC'd @ 1Ghz
256MB PC133
Win908SE
Hercules verion 6.35 drivers.

i get the max 1600X1200 is peg at 90 with high quailty
timedemo 1024X768 high quality is 179fps
p4 1.7 @ 1906 geforce3

I get 53.9 FPS in Max detail (at 1024x768 - 32bit) and sound
in Q3 1.16 demo1.
My system :
AMD Tbird 850 not overclocked
128 MB PC133 SDRAM
Powercolor Geforce2MX 32 MB

I use 800x600, normal settings but then change to 16 bit colour and
lower the detail slider.

Then I limit the framerates to 75 and set snaps to 75
I only play Quake online and this gives me a constant 75fps in any
situation. The alternative is anything between 30 and 130 fps.

Also ran the same setup but with a 450PII and that was slower, but not
by all that much. I used to limit that to 60fps.

The MX is way maxed out, but is excellent overall.
