g400 dh and windows 98

hi

i just purchased a matrox g400 dh. i seem to have problems
with the drivers that have been provided on the accompanying cd. after
the installation of powerdesk the system shuts down and on startup it
gets as far as the initial windows screen (the blue one which says
windows 98 bla bla). then, just before it is supposed to come up with
the initial desktop, it reboots. on startup (in save mode) it tells me
that the current adapter type is not correct.

if i install the newest version of powerdesk (5.30.007), will this
problem be resolved ?

any comments would be much appreciated.

I am running 5.30 with no problems. I did find that the G400 is more
sensitive to sharing IRQs than other cards, because I had some problems and
had to move other cards further away from the AGP slot.

try to switch to a standard VGA mode before you remove your old card.

or better explained:
first reinstall the old card and switch to standard VGA driver
(600x480x16colors)

and then install the G400 hardware
check the IRQs
and then install the 5.30 driver.
