I just recently purchased an Audigy 2 platinum and have experienced
similar problems when fiddling with both the EAX options as well as
surround sound in Neverwinter Nights. The most common problem I have
been having is with the sound not intializing when it should, or being
'late'. This is most noticable when I use the toolset, going back and
fourth between that and testing out my module in the game. I have also
noticed that none of the surround sound options seem to work, at least
not as good as other games with this option. Do not quote me on this,
but I seem to recall this issue coming out a few days after NWN was
released, but I'm not certain on what the outcome was or any
workarounds. I didnt pay too much attention to this at the time
because I didnt have EAX then.
I will say however that the software included with soundcard is very
suspect IMHO, and I have noticed some little niggles here and there,
most notably with my speaker settings defaulting back to the basic 2
speaker set up, when I actually have a 5.1 setup. So I havent ruled
out the problem being on my end either. I just havent had time to sit
down and really study it.

I have On-baord sound on my nForce 2 motherboard. I had major prblems at
first with the sound that was similiar to what you suggested. I switched
from EAX 2 to just regular EAX. The sound is much better but I still get
this incredibly annoying ticking sound and I have the latest version of both
NWN and my mobo sound drivers. Other then that the sound is fine.

Never noticed anything like that, but I have noticed that my speaker layout
doesn't seem to want to "stick" sometimes. I'll find that it's reverted to
a 2-speaker setting instead of staying set on 5:1 like it should. Maybe
that's what's happening to you?

If you need to email, then chainbreaker (naturally) at comcast dot
net--that's "net" not "com"--should do it.
This is because Audigy sound card drivers really suck :( I have one
myself.
Yes thats also happening. Ah well, I'll put it down to one of lifes little
myteries!
