Just thought I would share this.

This is my second K9N Platinum, the first was RMA'd. I have been having
reboot issues with my computer and sometimes I would get a BSOD somtimes
only reboots.
The BSOD kept referring me to memory problems.
I am running 2 GB OCZ PC6400 800MHz memory.
I ran Windows Mem Diag for 8 hours in Extened test and found nothing wrong.
I finally pulled one stick of ram and the problems went away. Reinstalled
the memory and reboots came back. So I swapped the memory and am again
running problem free. It doesnt matter which stick of Ram I have in, but I
can only have ONE stick in at a time. Sounds to me like my SECOND K9N
Platinum has gone bad after 4 months.
Looks like another RMA and little hope of getting a good board.

After reading reviews on Newegg of this board I think this will be my last
MSI purchase.

Certain memory sticks configurations can only run so fast (FSB). I bet
if you would've underclocked the FSB a bit (to maybe 5200) you would
last with the 2 GB.

I had a similar issue with an MSI K8N Neo Platinum board I had. 1.5 GB
of DDR3200 RAM did NOT want to run unless it was clocked at 333 mhz,
otherwise I was getting Windows Blue Screens (your problem) @ 400mhz
FSB. The board also had other issues and I scrapped it with an ASUS
K8N-E Deluxe which suffered from the same setback, but fixed all the
other issues I had with crummy MSI (boot and IDE issues, ethernet problems.

Since I have not RMA'd the board yet, and hate to because of the hassle and
computer down time, I will try your suggestion of slowing down the memory.

Thanks for your input.

Yeah, it also has more or less something to do if the memory is either
double sided or single sided. Your manual should have some good
suggestions as to what DIMM bays to use for what sticks. Good luck...

Follow-UP:

I backed my memory off to 667MHz, put BOTH chips in, and have not had
another problem. (knock on wood)

I appreciate your suggestion.

I think its clear from my experience and from what I read, the experience of
many others, that the K9N is not capable of running memory at 800 Mhz,
despite what MSI thinks.

If you're still alive-

One thing I found with this board that I neglected to mention was that fact that the northbridge chip would run too fucking out. Lava to the finger tips hot. Probably even if you were running 800Mhz, maybe even less (but still fucking hot) if underclocking.

At that point I would assume the board is either junk or 2/3 of its lifespan is already severed
