Trying, without any luck, to install the realtek audio driver for the on
board sound with the KT3 Ultra.

When my WIN98 detects the new hardware and trys to load the driver is
request a series of files (e.g. gm16.dls, and more) that are not on the
WIN98 installation CD, nor in the system.

Any leads would be appreciated. I tried to look for the FAQ on this issue
on the MSI site, but found none.

This is a quote from the "readme.txt" file on installing the Realtek® Avance
ALC201A/202A/650 AC'97 Audio Driver.

"Step 1. Before installing the Avance AC'97 Drivers & Applications, Press
the
[Cancel] button if Windows detect the PCI Multimedia Audio device.

Step 2. Insert the "Avance AC'97 Drivers & Applications" CD into the CD-ROM
drive and run the setup.exe program to finish the installation.

Step 3. Click on [Next/OK/Go] to continue the procedure. If the Windows
popup "Digital Signature Not Found" message, press [Yes] to continue the
installation.

Step 4. Finally, select to restart the system and press [Finish] to complete
the installation. The system will reload the drivers and do some
adjustments in the INF file if so required.

Step 5. (for Win98SE) Please run 269601USA8.exe under "patch" directory
after the driver installation was completed."

When I run the setup.exe I get the error message "Interface not registered".

Any suggestion what to do now?

Try the driver set from the website, instead of the CD.

Thanks for the tip. This

Re-installing Internet Explorer (we recommend you to install the latest
Internet Explorer version) will most likely resolve these errors. If you still
get the error after installing the Internet Explorer, please see the following
InstallShield Knowledge Base articles:

is not as worse as doing a complete reformat ;-)

I'll wait for something better to turn up ;-)

Thanks anyway.
