Hi just tried and loaded F7a it hasn't fixed anything tried to run with a
1.7 vcore (which is now the maximum you can run with) so its not a fix its a
limiter)..........it doesn't work on mine.........I cant even boot into
windows with out a BSOD.........my page file is corrupt and I had to delete
it..........even with it deleted its a no go..........system crashes and
locks up and warm reboots require the PC case power button turning off and
then back on to make it work...........if anyone gets it to work please tell
me how.

Just a bit surprised that GBT Taiwan issued a statement saying it works when
it doesn't appear too............and how can it be a fix if they remove the
option to select voltages above 1.7 volts when they produced, advertised and
sold a board which they claimed that you can set the Vcore to 1.85
volts.............its like selling a car that says it can do 180MPH finding
it doesn't drive safely (or at all at that speed) taking it back to the
garage who then putting a brick under the accelerator peddle and limit
someone to 70MPH........its not a fix............or someone prove me wrong.

Is this the official fix? as I see no official statement from GBT-UK as of
yet...does it work on your machine and if so what is the
configuration.........please confirm whether Crucial, or Kingmax or whoever
memory, and how much, graphic card, mother board make GA-8IRXP or Asus
P4B266.........LOL.........still got a sense of humour for
now....just....and also motherboard version.........in case it has changed
and it works with some boards and not others.

Mike would you be so kind as to advise us of the above or make a statement
as to its current working status with regard to the F7a bios and the PC at
GBT UK running the GA-8iRXP board which finally proved the problem in the
first place.

IT DOESN'T WORK FOR ME AND I BELIEVE OTHERS WHO HAVE TRIED IT SO FAR ARE OF
THE SAME SITUATION AND OPINION AS ME........LETS SEE HOW EVERYONE ELSE GETS
ON ONCE THEY HAVE LOADED IT.

Kind regards

Alan

Hey Alan,

Remember Holger #1 - the first Holger who swapped his 8IRXP for an Asus
P4T-E.

Well he must be laughing his ass off at us now.

So is GigaByte just trying to make friends with the press.
Officially now, every thing seems fixed and OK.
"So please everyone just rush out and buy the OverClockers Dream." or do I
still
hear somebody shouting "Gigabyte GA-81RXP: overclocker's nightmare".

Maybe it is just GigaBytes PR and Marketing department that cannot wait for
the engineers to
get their work done.

Just tried adjusting the bios setting again to over clock the CPU on Vcore
and FSB.................and would you believe it.........

IT STILL DOESN'T WORK......... can boot the machine both hot or cold with
the new bios with Vcore set to 1.7Volts but the minute I adjust the FSB up
to above 120Mhz and I get BSOD I cant even get into windows at all
now............now before you say well maybe my memory isn't up to going
over 120Mhz, well firstly it's crucial PC2100 memory and I've had it going
faster and secondly I'm running as I type this on the old F3 bios at 133Mhz
at 1.775 Vcore...........the machine will warm reboot lovely.........just
back to the old power off at the mains socket to restart from a cold
reboot..........so I don't think its my hardware.........its the
Bios..........machines rock steady in use with the F3 Bios (except cold
boots) yet with the F7 Bios I cant even get into windows....just goes to
prove you need the Vcore voltage to get decent over clocking
speeds.........with the current F7 bios I can achieve about 120FSB after
that...........BSOD. I have been able to achieve 140Mhz in the past with the
F3/F4 bios so ill try a few other settings and see how it goes.

I Thin I might try the wire wrap trick and give up on ever expecting a
stable bios..........after all, all my other hardware is up to the
spec.........if I can achieve 133Mhz/1.775 Vcore on the F3 bios but only
120Mhz/1.7Vcore on the F7 bios what does that tell you.

Ill leave you to draw your own conclusions.
