Having a memory problem with the Gigabyte GA-6BA motherboard that I was hoping
that someone might be able to help with. I’m using a Celeron 800MHz CPU with the
FSB set to 100MHz. Traced the problem to the speed of the FSB. When set to 66MHz
there is no problem with the memory. When set to 100MHz the memory becomes
erratic. All the memory is rated at 100MHz. I have tried different memory DIMMs
including one rated at 133MHz all with the same results. The memory is erratic
and produces errors when the FSB is set at 100MHz. The same memory is stable
when the FSB is set at 66MHz. I have two GA-6BA boards (different sources and
different histories) and both exhibit the same behavior suggesting that it is
not a fault with the particular board itself. Updated the BIOS to the latest
provided by Gigabyte (F1). So you can see I’ve already arrested all the usual
suspects. Thinking that the only solution now might be in the BIOS settings. Any
help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Warren.
