Hi everyone,

I need to obtain the 4-pin PS/2 Mouse header cable for a GA-6BA
motherboard.

I've tried a couple of local suppliers and have 'heard' the
metaphorical chin-rubbing/head scratching as I asked about it -
followed by a grunted 'you'll be lucky mate!'

Does anyone know where I can obtain one of these in the UK, or if
anyone has one to spare from a retired motherboard I'd be most
grateful.

Thanks

You might find it easier to find a usb header and a buy a usb mouse. (usb
header about £6-£10).

Hi Josey,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I need the PS/2 header because I've
just brought a good quality keyboard/mouse/video switch plus cables,
and the unit will only work with PS/2 mice (I thought that I had the
PS/2 header in the original box, but alas....) - I'm currently using
it with just the keyboard & video switched between 3 PCs and one mouse
switched for two of the PCs and another (serial) mouse connected to
the GA- 6BA board.

I'm one of those people hates having half a solution - If I can just
find the PS/2 header for the board I can have a single shared mouse. I
know it's only a minor thing and sharing the keyboard and monitor
makes the desk so much less cluttered, but I find that I keep grabbing
the wrong mouse - it was worse with 3 keyboards, 3 mice & 2 monitors
though ;-)

Why not e-mail Gigabyte tech support in the UK (or consult manual -
sometimes the info is contained in there) for the pin-outs and make
a cable.

Kevin

I think I'll have to try Gigabyte UK tech support by telephone if I
can track down a number (I did send gigabyte support an email but had
no response).

If they can't supply the lead they might give me the pinouts so that I
can make one - I did think of this before but, as you can understand
if I'm going to make one of these I really need accurate information,
but all the manual gives for the PS/2 mouse connector is to indicate
that it's a 4-pin connector and a little diagram showing that the red
line on the supplied cable goes to pin 1 - and just to rub it in, all
the other connctors seem to have full pinout info. :-{

Yeah, typical. Anything you really need is always deficient on info.

If you are stuck I could probably locate the necessay pin layout for
a "true" PS/2. Let's hope Gigabyte have implemented said convention.
