I have a gigabyte 6ba mobo. and I'm wondering what AGP video card works
well with this mobo which uses 2X AGP speed.

Maybe, maybe not, like always, you pay's your money and you take's your chances.

Generally speaking, for the GA6BA, Geforce 256 SDR and DDR's are a no go, Geforce2
200MX's (32Mb versions only) are ok, Geforce2 400MX's (32Mb versions only) are
mainly OK, Geforce2 GTS's are a no go with any amount of RAM, Geforce 3's are a no
go again with any amount of RAM and Geforce 4's are also no go with any amount of
RAM.

The problem is power consumption, most of the Geforce256's and Geforce2 & 3 GTS's,
Ti's and geforce 4's (All of the Geforce 4's) all consume to much current from the
AGP sockets 3.3 volt line for the poor old GA6BA to cope with.
The best that your board can reliably cope with is the 32Mb Geforce2 MX400.
(F+Definately NOT the 64Mb version, too much current required by the RAM)

If you have one of the last BA boards with the "voodoo" jumpers on it, then all
the above is irelevent to you, simply enable those two jumpers (JP 20 & 21 I
believe they are) and away you go, best price performance ratio for these boards
is a Geforce 3ti or, if you can get one, a Geforce 2 GTS.

Jeff has told you just about everything there is to know on the 6BA and
video cards.

Motherboard version number is in to left hand corner of the board near the
PCI slots.

REV 3.0 have the Voodoo jumpers. Everything earlier does not. I have a rev
3.0 with a Geforce 256 SDR that works fine, with just two issues:

1. I had to replace the original AT PSU with an ATX power supply before it
would work. (I actually bought a new ATX case/PSU as it was cheaper). (6BA
is a mini AT format board with AT and ATX PSU connectors).

2. The Voodoo jumpers are bypassing the regulator, but even so my regulator
was getting *very* hot and causing instability. An extra (homemade) heatink
on the regulator has made this a very stable board for years. It's now
running a 1Ghz Celeron on a socket to slot adapter.
