apparently there are problems with Voodoo3 in Gigabyte boards.
Anyone tried a Voodoo3/2000/AGB in a GA-6LA7?
Bernd

"There is a first list of the Gigabyte Mainboards which
can be used with a VOODOO 3 Card. Here is the table:"
GA-BX2000 PCB ver.1.1
Jumper 18 and 19 must
be set
GA-6BXC PCB ver.2.0
GA-6BXE PCB ver.2.0
GA-6BX7 PCB ver.1.4
GA-6BA PCB ver.3.0
GA-6ZXC PCB ver.2.0
GA-6VXE PCB ver.2.2
GA-6VA7 PCB ver.1.2
I have a GA-6BXE v1.9. I would have liked to have replaced my i740/V2 combo
with a V3 some time in the future. Are Gigabyte offering any upgrade/swap to
those with earlier revisions or am I looking at purchasing a new mobo?
Really upset if I need to buy a new mobo as I was expecting to keep my
current one through a couple of processor upgrades.

My friend has a baby. I'm recording all the noises he makes so later I can
ask him what he meant.
Sorry, but I don't understand the statement of Gigabyte, because my brother
has an old GA686BLX Board (Intel LX chipset and AT powersupply) and he has a
Voodoo 3 3000! And the card works great!

Gigabyte confirmed only recently (June 28th) that in particular
some of the new BX boards have problems. Then on July 7th the above list
appeared on their Webpage which is a preliminary partial list of boards
that
Gigabyte tested so far.
But it is good news that this older LX board doesn't have problems.
The 6LA7 is a new board (BAT, 370pin) using the old LX, so there is hope
:)

PCI or AGP-Version? The trouble is only the AGP-Port on there MoBo.
Gigabyte "hope", "means", the PCI-Version from Voodoo3 will work.

He said " V3 3000" and that愀 AGP-only.

My boss also has similar problems using totally different hardware on his
bx2000!!
This is reminiscent of a previously documented problem on one of their other
boards with a previous Intel chipset. The fix and documentation is included
on their installation CD as supplied with the bx2000 board.

The problem appears to be the voodoo3 requires 5amps
to drive it correctly but the AGP standard I am told is only
3amps. There is mod to make the AGP port supply 5amps
I have sent my Board back for this mod will keep you informed
Bob
Apparently you get good service whereever you are (Australia?)
I failed to reach Gigabyte Germany on the phone for several days, and
there is no response to email either.
