Did you order from Sterling? I got my T'bird 700 from them (they had a
really low price on pricewatch). I had never heard of them prior to finding
them on pricewatch. I placed my order with Sterling and he even made sure I
had a proper motherboard (A7V which I had purchased prior) and that their
tech's had a bit of trouble getting the stability from the A7V but just
needed BIOS tweaks. (He was right in my case but I've heard stories of
others with bad luck with these boards) I guess my point is that I had a
great experience with Monarch. I checked reseller ratings prior to the
order just to make sure they were kosher. MOST of the reviews were good (I
forget what they scored) and I decided to order from them.

Just my interpretation of the situation.

I dealt with Sterling also, but I dealt with that "snippy" woman too.
The sale was excellent, the shipping slow, no problems with the billing.
Sterling's a great guy. Monarch came thru fine.
So if the price was right, and it was just delayed a bit, you left the order
cancelled?
Was this supposed to run a heart/lung machine and you couldn't wait?
Reseller Ratings shows them to be exceptional.
Far better than most. Perhaps, it was just your day.
I will admit the guy probably shouldn't have hung up on you,
but then we don't know what was said by YOU, except by the tone of your
email which so kindly (ha) asked to speak to the womans supervisor.
monarch does a good job with their kits and computers, adn that takes time.
It may not have occurred to you, but they didn't hire someone to JUST take
care of your order.
Shipping can only ship what the techs finish, IF the parts are there.
You want some guy working 18 hours overtime setting up your BIOS?
There is no way the guy at Monarch hung up on you un-provoked.
Lastly, they get hit by fraud for computers like you wouldn't believe.
They have to match that address EXACTLY, or they lose money.
That means higher prices.
Sterling was nothing BUT helpful, as were the techs too.
I saved hundreds and shipping was (almost) prompt.
(translated: who doesn't want it yesterday?)

You miss my point. If I had this much problem with just trying to get the
order placed, the service after the fact is questionable. I've been
ordering off the net for years and this sort of thing is the biggest problem
with "resellers". We're mostly little folks here and we need our systems
working and we need help. If you're a little guy, you deserve the same
amount of attention and respect as the big order customer. Wasn't it
customer service week last month? Guess these guys missed the message.

Also, it wasn't the techs that were the problem. They never even saw the
order. It was the order processing that created the problem. You seem to
know a little bit about the problem, do you perhaps work for monarch?

i too checked resellerratings before i ordered from monarch... and i got
burned by them anyway. they sent me a slower cpu than i ordered... and they
haven't yet issued me a rma number to exchange it, three weeks after my
first email to them. their support people are nice - they kindly told me
that the problem was with the rma deartment. thanks. their techs are good,
too; my cpu runs at a low temp, indicating that they did something right
with the heatsink/thermal compound... or else the sensor isn't making good
contact with the cpu.

simple1: i'm sure that the two of us aren't alone in our problems.

>You seem to know a little bit about the problem, do you perhaps work for
monarch?

for all we know, they're posting positive newsgroup messages about
themselves... as well as stuffing the ballot box at resellerratings with
positive reviews!

Check that probe!!!!!
Naw, I don't work for them. They simply bent over backwards to please me.
I was impressed, with that anyway. Their price was considerably better than
many,
they had the stuff in stock, I saved quite a bit of money, and the items
arrived early.
Sterling returned all my calls promptly. Also, when they were out of
something, they had no problem substituting the next level up for no charge,
unlike other places who simply "backorder" you to death.
Well, that being said, I can of course only relate MY experience with them.
For all I know, they may just ship one good system to us nice guys once a
month and it was my turn? :)

Now you tell me... I just ordered a bare-bones A7V T-bird 900 w/ case system
from them last Thursday. I emailed them a query last week before ordering but
have yet to received a reply... They were rated a 6 out of 7 on the venders
rateing site.

I'll keep ya'll posted on how it goes.

Sorry for your bad luck Simple1,

I bought from Monarch 2 weeks ago and all was ok. My only conplaint was
they are a bit slow on shipping.

I got what I ordered it was well packed and everything worked.

My order with them was delivered on time, perfect shape, and my
subsequent requests were answered promptly. I have no problem giving
them my business again.

From what I read here and your attempt to destroy their reputation tell
me that you're the kind of customer I would not want to deal with
either. I like this in a vendor, they know they're good and they don't
need you.

I also bought from Monarch. I bought a K7V Althlon system last May.
Good price, excellent service in building my system over the phone.
Good after sale tech support. I was so impressed (compared to other
e-tailors on the web) I recommeded Monarch to a buddy. He just
recently ordered and received a 900MHz A7V system. Again same
situation: competitive price, good service, excellent running system.
I don't work for monarch either but with so many questionable
companies on the web (such as accubyte) I hate to see a decent one get
a bad rep. Sterling in particular seems to be an excellent saleman
and Chuck in tech support is wonderful.

Strange website they have.
I was NOT able to get to anyplace that had computer products.
I think they need to rethink their layout something drastically.
And yes, I have been using the net for years, and ran a BBS for many years
before that.
And have created many web pages along the line, many from scratch.

To Monarch.
if you want to sell, make it a bit easier to find your products.

I haven't followed all of this thread but if everyone is talking about the
computer store in Florida (where Sterling works) that sells Athlons, etc.
then web site is NOT http://www.monarch.com as listed below...(I agree that
the monarch.com site is a strange). The website is
http://www.monarchcomputer.com (do not put an "s" on "monarchcomputer" or
you will get another strange website).

Yep, I had the link wrong......
it's www.monarchcomputer.com
Their site is extremely easy. Have you been on the web before?
:)
There is a panel on the left and 1/2" letters that say "Configure your PC".

I have been on the 'web' for many years now.
And I ran various BBS's for around 15 years before that.
With the corrected URL, the site is easy to navigate.
However, it is harder to find the info about motherboards that they are
selling.
Looking at Asus, for example, they would seem to think that you are going
to know just what each model number is. Never having owned Asus board, I am
only familiar with a few odd model numbers I have seen mentioned in posts.
I have found many other sellers web sites to be much better all around.
This is not to say that monarch is bad, just not as easy to find the info
I'd want...
Also, being as they are out of Florida, and I live in California, not as
good for my needs.
