I plan to use the same Graphics card and QIII. I'm waiting for the card to
arrive and I will install it and see what happens. I'm using the K7V,
Athlon 800 and a Soundblaster Live card. I'll let you know how it all works
after I get it going. Hopefully by Monday I can get back to you. As far as
your modem goes, have you tried moving it to a different slot? Some PCI
modems are picky about the slot they are installed in. I had a similar
problem with a USR modem. BTW, you should turn on the modem setting for the
amr slot in the bios. That allows the bios to detect the type of modem
installed and will auto disable the amr slot.

Good luck.

I am running K7V w/800CPU and ELSA Erazor X2 with WIN2K--these components
work fine. I do have following problems:

1) Quake III sound doesn't work although my Aureal PCI Sound card is
functioning correctly. Will a SoundBlaster Live! card work with QIII?

2) I can't get my PCI SM56 Motorola chip modem to work at all! The
drivers are installed and the K7v knows its there but for some reason
can't utilize it. Any suggestions or recommendations for PCI modems that
will work with this board.

By the way I turned off the onboard and bios settings for the audio and
AMR riser slot.

Thanks for your help

Hi Spot,

I finally put this system together and man is it ever fast. I did have some
problems with the Hard Drive not being recognized but I think I have this
solved. Also I used the video drivers that came with the Elza Eraser X2
graphics card and found that some of the game demos that came with the card
would not work. I downloaded the latest GeForce drivers from Nvidias web
site and that seems to have corrected many of the problems I was having.

How did you make out with your system?

Take care.

Tony
