barely even knew how to install memory but i decided to go ahead and
try to build a pc on my own since i fell into some money. well let me
tell ya what i got, asus a7v motherboard, 1ghz tbird, 3d prophet ii
geforce gts 64mb, sb live, promise ultra100 controller and 2 IBM DTLA
307015 15.3 gb hd's. i've been doin' ok so far.. then i tried
installing the promise card to my hd's. jesus god. i've spent about 6
hours trying to get the thing to work, tried switching pci slots, tried
switchingi jumpers on the hd's, read somewhere that setting the bios to
boot the ultra100 like a scsi device would do the trick, tried that and
nothing came from it. the thing is it recognizes the drives but still
says that there are no hard drives attached and that ultra100 Bios did
not install. can anybody out there give me some help? i'm dying here

The A7V has it's ultra 100 on board. There is no need to purchase a
seperate controller.

That's right. For your information, I was not able to format and install
win98se on the ultra 100 port. The installation would just bluescreen on me
when setting the timezone. When I formatted and installed it on the normal
ata 66, there was no problem.
My disk is a 13 gb ata 66 IBM DJNA something. Maybe newer disks dont have
this problem.
