Hi all,
I previously have owned a FIC VA503+ Mobo and have had no problems at
all with it running my AMD K6-2 's ... but now I have recently purchased a
second VA503+ with different hardware and found out the hard way that some
of my hardware is incompatible with the mobo. So, Im looking into buying a
ASUS P5A-B mobo ... here is my specs ... all feedback or problems with this
setup would gratefully be preciated ... I don't wont to have problems again.
heh.

AMD K6-2 450
64 SDRAM PC100
WD 8.3 Gig HD
Pioneer DVD-ROM
Diamond Viper v550 PCI
Simple PCI Sound Card
D-Links Network Adapter Card PCI
and of course a Baby AT Case with a 235 power supply

any comments about this board and this setup ??? Anything I should know
about before buying this mobo ??? All comments are welcomed !!!

Thx in Advanced !!

Looks pretty simple.
Friend has a Viper AGP card - no problem.
My NIC is D-Link made (sold as generic) - no problem.
Sound card - shouldn't be a problem.
No modem? Be aware the P5A-B has only 3 PCI slots, which you have filled.
If modem is ISA, no problem. But you won't have room for another ISA card
if you have one.
PnP works well with my ISA PnP modem.

Hi Brandon,
I have a similar system. Had bunches of problems but mostly solved by
reading manual and "disabling PCI delay transaction. But I'm afraid of your
power supply. It just may not cut it. I ditched my 235 and it seems more
stable at 250 watts.
Good luck,
Tom

Ok thx guys !!! Ya, in response about the modem ... all Im intending on
using this system for is a Network computer ... sorry about not mentioning
that ... my other computer ( main one ) has the modem and is used for
internet... this one is going to be a work horse for my apps and also for
Network gaming ( couldnt forget that one heh ). But ya, I have no intention
of installing any other hardware for it.

And in response to the last message ... I have a feeling your right about
the power supply ... on my last mobo ( the FIC VA503+ ) I had all sorts of
BoDs and such ... even while installing windows .... I used 4 different
video cards and only one would work with out any flaws ...

1.) Viper v550 AGP 16 Meg <========= No way it will work ....
2.) Viper v550 PCI 16 Meg <========= No way it will work ....
3.) Diamond Speedstar A55 AGP 8 Meg <========= No problems up until
reinstalling some drivers for it.
4.) old ATI Mach 64 PCI 4 Meg <======== No problems at all ... even in
games. Just wouldnt recommend using it. heh.

So I just decided to make my move on the ASUS P5-A ... always wanted one, I
geuss now Im going to get one and try it out ... If I have any problems at
all I will post on here and also get a new case with either a 250 or a 300
watt supply just to make sure it's not my power supply.

Thx guys for your posts so far. I like what I have heard and it's helping me
lean more towards getting the mobo. Should have it by the end of either this
week or next ... thx guys for your time and posts !!!

Brandon
