Hi

I have a problem with my Asus A7V133 board and IBM DTLA-307030 hard drive.
When i connect the hard disk on the Promise Ultra-100 controller, i can't
boot on the floppy disk neither on the CD-Rom drive (i can boot perfectly
when the drive is disconnected). I have tried with a western digital 20 Gb
with no problem at all.

I have tried with 2 different units of the IBM HDD with the latest bios
available (1003)

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance
Guillaume

Hi,

I have a problem with the IBM DTLA 307045 when I connect it on the Promise
controller.
The computer boots normally but after a few moment it freezes.
So I connect my IBM to the IDE-port and had no
problems anymore.

I've the same problem with the same IBM Hard drive.

I've a NIC installed, but the problem was also before installing the NIC.

I'm an Italian Computer Shop owner, and I've noticed this problem on every
PC with A7V + IBM Hard Drive on ATA-100 controller that I've sold.

What is it !!

Whe're NOT using 1007 bios. Still trying to download it !!

Thanks if anybody answers !

Bye,
Pete.

hmm.. welcome to the club.. i am not even using the promise controller.. i
get locks after a few minutes..
i have seen a lot of posts regarding this mainboard and locks right after
startup. only consistancy between the cases seems to be a sound card is
installed. i removed my sound card and no problems. hmm... i like sound. i use
a aureal.. most ppl with this problem are using sound blaster live and similar
cards.
!! help asus!!

Could this problem have anything to do with the problem the A7V family of
boards has with IRQ problems listed in Q16 of Asus's motherboard FAQ?
