Anyone know: 4x/8x AGP card with original P4PE?

I'm considering upgrading the GPU in this box. I've seen a few ATI
X1650Pro's at decent price considering the memory (512 DDR2). They are
4/8 AGP's. Wondering if anyone knows if I would encounter a problem
between the card and the mother board ?
This is one of the first P4PE's, purchased back in 2003-2004.

TIA

A 4x/8x card should work. Even if it is bridged via Rialto or HSI.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/agpcompat/agp.html

For example, an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro is in the list of video cards,
and it is listed as "Universal 1.5V AGP 3.0 Card" type. The X1650Pro
will be the same, because it has the Rialto on the back of the card
as well.

X1950Pro AGP - Rialto is the chip with the "pink goo" around it.

X1650Pro AGP - Looks like the same chip on the back.

Rialto converts AGP protocol, to PCI Express. The GPU itself has a
PCI Express interface. The video card looks like this:

Video_RAM
4x/8x | | | |
AGP -- Rialto -- PCI_Express_GPU --> To monitor

This would have been a big win for AGP users, if Rialto and HSI
supported operation at 3.3V, but they don't. So the people who are
out of luck, are the owners of 3.3V-only motherboards, like my
old 440BX board. But your 1.5V 845PE Northbridge and AGP interface
should be fine with it.

Another issue, is any AGP slots that aren't stable at the higher
AGP transfer rates. There are some motherboards, that on paper
will work, but practically speaking the interface is not stable
enough to waste time on an upgrade.

I have a Nvidia 7600GS AGP card in my P4PE. No problems.
I don't know about ATI, but the Nvidia ones work OK...

I had the P4PE in the past. A good motherboard. It is AGP 4x, and it works
fine with 4x/8x video cards.

I was looking to upgrade my video card so the kids could still play games.
Bought an ASUS E7600GS for around $100 from NewEgg. Seems to work well.

Well I'm still going back and forth. Think I'm very close to a
decision. Looking at the MB Manual it must be 1.5v.
The card I'm looking at is the Sapphire Radeon X1950GT.
Comparing the cards picture

to the diagram

but between 1.5 and 3.3v there seems to be a slight difference , at
least from these pictures.
So I'm guessing (with some confidence) that this card is 1.5v because
of the "L" shaped part of the insertion points.

I"ll take a confirmation if anyone can offer one.

That has a single slot cut, in the 1.5V position. It is a 1.5V only card.

http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/14-102-093-03.jpg

The card on the right hand side here, shows the location of the 3.3V
and 1.5V slots. When you compare it to your card, you can see the
3.3V on your card is missing. So your card is 1.5V only.
