Building a new machine with a ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 MB

Got machine together and booted into windows XP CD with no issues,
Full formatted and did the XP install. At that point I stopped shut
it down to resume updating XP the following day.

Booting the following day I encountered constant reboots during boot
cycle initially noted by no signal display on monitor. I would try and
go into bios to look around and it might let me stay there 10 seconds
and reboot again if I leave it alone during boot it sometimes gets to
XP desktop but eventually reboots. A friend told me to go into bios
and set memory timings to those on the memory. This is something I
have never had to do in 5 other builds I have done and cant remain in
bios long enough to figure out where to do this. Prior to him
mentioning this I ordered different manufacturer memory but have the
same issues.

Memory used is http://tiny.cc/T2m8I and http://tiny.cc/Dha7P

Used only 4 meg of the 6 in each case due to XP limitations

Power supply is CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91

Video is SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI
Express 2.0 x16

Mmmm.....

This sounds very like something I had recently also on a P6T (SE in my
case though)...

I found that disabling hyperthreading stopped the reboots and allowed
me to investigate more fully. I then found 'memory' errors. I've put
that in quotes as I tried 6 different memory sticks (two different
makes) all of which were good in another machine and all gave the same
errors.
Eventually I returned the CPU for replacement ... but was told by the
supplier (OCUK) that the CPU tested fine and they returned it. On
refitting everything worked correctly. I didn't note the CPU serial so
can't confirm the CPU they sent back was the same one. I had
previously removed and refitted the CPU into two different systems and
the fault moved with the CPU.

When you did the XP install, did it boot properly the first time after
install finished, or did you just shut it down at that point?
If the latter, the chances are that 'SATA Configuration' in the BIOS
is set to AHCI or RAID and that you need to put the ICH10
AHCI/RAIID drivers on a floppy, re-install XP and press F6 when
prompted, then insert the floppy when prompted (a little later on.)
Alternatively, set 'SATA Configuration' to IDE and it should boot
but you'll not be able to use advanced SATA features, such as NCQ.
If it's not this, then it could be memory - make sure that is set to SPD
and try it with only 1 stick at a time, just in case you have a faulty
stick.
