I am pondering whether I should upgrade to PIII coppermine. That is, I am
pondering whether I have the money....
ANyway, it seems that they require an FCPGA motherboard, not a slot 1.
That's OK, i have a socket 7 now, so i'll have to change anyway.
I read somewhere that Slot 1 will be phased out by intel, so should I go for
an FCPGA board? What is the best one? Anyone have any experience with them?

Yes, Intel will pretty much kill Slot 1 by the end of 2000. FC-PGA is cheaper
to manufactuer and the mainboards are cheaper. If your upgrading now, get an
FC-PGA.

Yeah, Intel will probably phaze out the Slot-1s. They were only used to
handle off-chip cache on the same mini-board as the CPU. Now that the cache
is all on-chip they have no need for the mini-board.
As for which one, you could try the Asus CUV4X-M which is the socket 370
(will take the FC-PGA) version of the popular P3V4X. I use the P3V4X with a
slocket adapter with my P3i 600EB FC-PGA and its working fine. You could
also wait for Intels PC133 solution since they have decided to support it as
well (so much for RAMBUS).

Yeah, but the P3V4X has a lot more than 2 PCI slots :(
Will ASUS release a proper FC-PGA version, not a micro-ATX one ?
