50% of the time I start my KV7 system, I get high and low tone, long beeps
in an endless loop. The manual says that this is caused by the DRAM not
being detected.

I am useing 2 sticks of 133MHz 128 MB Crucial memory. I have tried them in
different slots. They work fine in other systems. The BIOS is set to
accept 133 memory. When it is set to accept 100 memory the system still
boots up OK 50% of the time.

I updated the bios from 1005 to 1007, the latest version, with no noticible
change in this problem.

The system blue screens often also.

Is memory really the problem? Are there any BIOS settings I am missing?
Any suggestions as to how to go about troubleshoot this further?

Did you try using the memory one chip at a time? If the memory is the issue
odds are it won't be both chips. Also make sure you don't have any debrise
in the DIMMS socket that could be blocking a contact.
