I have IBM DTLA 30715 on my mobo BE6-II and HPT366 cant work with IBM so
i use HDD in ATA33 mode.
I want to enable DMA mode in device manager to get better transfer. When
I enable DMA my mouse move slowly when HDD is reading , HD Tach say 29.6
mbps Read Burst and CPU Utilization 62.4%. System is somekind slow. If I
disable DMA in device manager everything goes fast, mouse runs
fast, reading is faster but Hd Tach says 8.4 mbps Read Burst and CPU
Utilization 95.2%.I had no problems with DMA enabled with my old IBM
DTTA371440.
Can someone explain what is going on here.

P.S. I want to buy Promise ATA100 controller PCI card. Will this
controller work with IBM DTLA 30715 on Abit BE6-II v1.1 and what is the
best PCI slot for it?

Use the HD in ATA33 mode on IDE1 an you'll get much better results.

Highpoints frequently don't work correctly.

No, there's a bug in the BE6-II which prevents the Promise
Ultra100/FastTrak100 +DTLA from operating properly.

The promise 100 card may not work correctly in your BE6II , many have had
problems.
However the promise 66 will work well and you drives will run at almost full
speed.
only your burst speed will be limited to about 60~65 mbs.
you can put the promise 66 in slot 5 if you disable the onboard hpt
controller.
