Hello. I am looking for a digital camera. Requirement is high: need to
be able to shoot with narrow depth of field, shoot in-door by hand
without flashlight and shoot some 4 or 5 frames per second to capture
facial expression (however I don't have high requirement on resolution,
anything better than 2.5 mega pixel is fine). Yet budget is low, I can
only spare some 3000RMB (500USD). So I am thinking either having a
second hand or keep the money for longer time until I can buy a good one.

Used Nikon D1 range from 2500RMB(400USD) to 4000RMB on ebay China. I
checked used Nikon D50 is much cheaper, from 1700RMB to 2800RMB. I don't
have particular interest in Nikon, it only happens to be the first brand
I check.

I wonder, when D50 as an entry level SLR have almost every factor beyond
D1 (which markets to professional market) yet cheaper, is it true that
for my case D1 is still the better choice consider my requirement more
or less fall into "professional" segment? Consider my requirement, is it
better to prefer a low-factor professional camera than a high-factor
entry level LSR? I never used a professional camera before.

Thanks in advance.

Why not consider a Used Nikon. Nikon and Canon have the top of the line
Digital cameras. Pro only means that the cameras have professional
features, not that they are harder to use. You might have to go for a
pro model to get the features that you want.

I would keep looking on Ebay China. You could look in the local camera
shops in China.

Do you think a demanding user (as demanding as I wrote in the
requirement) should prefer low-spec old -model pro like D1 instead of
high-spec new model non-pro (consumer device) like D50, when their used
product price is comparable?

Sorry, I have not been checking the News Group.

I think you should research and buy the camera that suits your needs.

I did not think you would object of saving a little money.

You can research on several of the Camera review sites.

Three of the most popular:

<http://www.imaging-resource.com/>
