Hello Reg,
This is an interesting exercise you are embarking on!
Let me start off by saying that I have a different Powershot model
camera to yours; I have a Powershot SX130 but there is a strong family
resemblance in the way each camera works.
My first suggestion is that you are looking in the wrong manual! Far
better to use the "Software Starter Guide" (if it is included on your
Canon A640 Solution disk). I had a quick looh at the Software Starter
Guide that appears to be on Solution Disk ver29. Starting on page 39
there seems to be a solution for what you wish to do; for now, I will
have to leave you to your own devices.
