I've owned several burners over the past dozen years or so, including
a couple of Plextors. The Plextors were the only ones I had to replace
because they died. The rest were given graceful retirements and will
still put in a day's work when asked to.
I just upgraded my main system. I have a hdd and DVD burner on the IDE
port. The rest of the ports are SATA (my first motherboard with SATA
ports). The burner worked great on the old system but it sometimes don't
recognize discs when I put them in on the new machine. I have to open
then close the drive, sometimes multiple times for the disc to spin up
and get recognized.
I was thinking of getting a SATA DVD burner, but which one...
