I have many, many porn sites listed in my Win XP registry that fall
under these settings -

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Internet
Settings/ZoneMap/Domains/

Why are these in there? I NEVER even heard of them much less visited
them.

No one but myself uses my computer, so why are these - and tons of
other legit domains, listed here?

Trolls: Don't bother with your nonsense. I'm not answering you.

Do you have a program on your PC that control internet access? Like
parental control, site security, etc.?
Sometimes these programs will put a "black-listed" list in the registry.

M$ programs, like I.E. keep their administration in the registry.
So somebody used that computer to visit shady sites, or you had
malware at some point in history.
I suspect either children or malware.
Of course, I dont suspect YOU! :)
Kidding aside, I use Firefox as bowser, and have configured it, to
forget all history and cookies.
I did a quick check of my registry, and cannot find the shady ones
I really did visit. :)

A security program (like SpywareBlaster) put them there, that's the list
of 'BAD' domains.
EscDomains is the list of 'trusted' domains.

Open IE, goto: Tools > Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites
then Sites and you'll see the same list.

Is NOT that somebody went there, the list is to prohibit/warn about
visiting those sites.

I am using SpywareBlaster, so what you say does seem to fit. I did
find the listing in IE - which I never use. I use FireFox instead.

Thanks for clearing this up.

No, there was no one else operating this comp. I think the answer is
what the reply from Vic is about regarding SpywareBlaster. I didn't
mention it, but I do have SpywareBlaster installed. It isn't that I
have never came across porn sites on the Web, but the ones in the
registry I never heard of. Besides, I am *very* leery about what type
of scripts, malware, etc., crooked Web pages can dump down on your
comp without you ever knowing it. In short, I believe porn sites are
run by untrustworthy scumbags who cannot be trusted, so I keep my
distance. So, I guess I'm leaning toward Vic's explanation. It makes
sense to me.

Yup, I do use mainly Firefox too, the list is there too (SpaywareBlaster
support both browsers, but not as easily to display as in IE) so you are
OK, it just means that the protection against that kind of sites is working.

Perhaps they got there after you went to porn sites.

I have no idea, since I use Macs, and OS X does not use a registry.

I hope you don't mind me answering.

Put all the domains in your "HOSTS" file, then set the file to read-only.
...
Or goto: control panel > internet options> security > restarted sites
/and/ put the domains in there, same difference.
