I am trying to install W2000 on my parents computer, which currently runs
w98. Halfway through the installation I received an error message that
files on the disk could not be read , or that there was insufficient memory.
(Has 15gb free).
As the installation has uninstalled w98 before it started the w2000 install,
I cannot start the computer and go to either OS, it just keeps taking me
back to the W2000 installation or the C: prompt.
Is there any way I can get back to the W98 OS?? or get the PC running
again??

Help!!!!

I'm afraid you cannot go back - your Win98 installation is well and
truly gone.

You write "there was insufficient memory. (Has 15gb free)". "Insufficient
memory" is not the same thing as "Insufficient disk space". How much
memory (RAM) do you have?

A few more questions:
- How exactly do you start the installation process? Are you booting from
the Win2000 CD?
- Did you allow the installation process to format the disk prior to
starting the installation?
- Is the process unable to read files on the hard disk, or on the CD?

My advice: finish the install!
