Unknown to me, ipv4 on my wireless adapter went down. From that point,
there were sites that I could not reach despite the fact that ip v6 was
active.

I don't understand that.

Thanks for the help.

And I may not even be able to answer it at all,

You need to give more information than that.

What is your configuration?

What recent changes have you made?

Do you have a cable connection or DSL?

Was your wireless into your own router?

Have you made any recent changes to that?

Etc.

Acer laptop
WiFi on a public network. No idea who the ISP is but I think it's Verizon.
Haven't made any changes.

It had been working well -- i.e., no problems connecting to any websites
when suddenly there were websites that took too long. Then I ran
traceroutes to websites that were reachable and saw that the first hop
had an ip v6 address. I looked at the adapter settings and it showed
internet connection for ip v6 but no connection for ip v4. Using device
manager, I uninstalled the WiFi adapter. On revisiting that entry, the
Wifi adapter reinstalled itself and the ip v4 had internet connection.

So I'm asking why certain websites were not accessible when only ip v6
was providing the internet connection.

Thanks.
