In D7 at least (D5 not available, but I believe this may be similar)...
Project, Add New Project, then select "Console Application"
Would that do?

I suppose it's overly glib to suggest the Windows unit.
But there is something to it. If your program needs DOS, it's not a
given that it will be a good match to run it on Windows.

And Also, you could look for the "WinCrt" that gives you the basics of
the "CRT" in TP with out the need of the low level crap.
and start with a Console app, not a GUI one..

You really should look into converting that into GUI, also, don't
expect to perform any low level INT's port reads/writes.
There is no replacement, but I guess you can find most of the functions
in SysUtils.

but for future reference I came across this:
ShellExecute(0, 'Open', PChar(Edit1.Text), PChar(''), PChar(''), SW_Hide);}
which executes the DOS OPEN command using the text in Edit1.Text as main
parameter(ie it opens the file named in Edit1.TExt).
