Can anybody point me to some components, free or otherwise, that will
validate a UK bank account number/ bank sort code combination? I am not
looking for an online check just the check digit routines.

I am also looking for similar components for credit card details - but I
presume that credit card details are universal and not just UK

TIA

I don't know about bank stuff, but I did some work with credit cards about 10
years ago. I obtained all my information direct from Diners Club. If you phone
them up and tell them you are a developer they will send you the necessary
algorithms after they have checked out that you are genuine. I imagine the same
thing applies to the banks. It's probably best to try head office rather than
your local branch though :)

Dave,

Validation is in two stages, modulas and then actual bank validation .i.e.
does the bank support Direct Debits/Credits, is AUDDIS supported for
example.

The secondry information also needs to include if you are dealing with
building society accounts, where they may have a holding bank, so if you are
going to send through BACS for example, you need to adjust the probable 10
digit account number to a 8 digit account no etc.

Anyway, ABM sell a DLL which does this, you can view the details at

http://www.abm-ltd.co.uk

which is the company I work for, so I don't really like plugging in here, so
if you do not require somthing so sophisticated, I will certainly try and
dig out the modulas information for you ( which is probably available
elsewhere anyway), and e-mail it over, it makes great bedtime reading <S>,
I am on holiday so it may be a week or so .

Regards,
Greg
