Hello:
I really really need to learn Delphi 5 to support a program that has been
written by someone else.
I have zero programming knowledge.

Where do I start to learn and how? I cannot find Delphi classes in my area.
Do I really need to know Pascal?
Thanks

Marco Cantu's web site has his "Essential Pascal" and
"Essential Delphi" books in PDF format that you can
download.

http://www.marcocantu.com/

If you would prefer a book, try:

"Programming & Problem Solving with Delphi" - Mitchell C. Kerman - Pearson
Education, Inc. - ISBN 0-201-70844-2

This is a very good book for beginners and comes with a copy of
Delphi 5 (Standard Edition).

(And yes, you really do need to know Pascal, since Delphi is based on it.)

You don't have to know Pascal the same way as you don't have to know Basic to learn Visual Basic or C to learn C++. As you learn Delphi, you'll learn Pascal as well. It's more fun than it would be the other way around!
