P.S. I have the table as ttDBase and the BDE configed to DBase.
1: Have a look at the OEMConvert property. - TEdit, TMemo
2: Have a look at the ANSI???? functions.

Have a look in the BDE Config program at what "language" driver the
DBase driver is using; I suspect you need to change it to one of the
"ASCII" drivers.
