Project Description: Under limited supervision, enhances the Company s operations by improving quality, reducing delivery times and minimizing costs. This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws. Supports operations management with business performance management tools to monitor, analyze and control performance at all Units of Operation. Improves and maintains cross-functional key performance indicators such as First Time Right, Customer Complaints, Schedule Attainment, Back Orders, and Labor and Machine Utilization. Analyzes statistically historical production cycle time data to determine the cycle times. Analyzes the standard yield and scrap percentages based on the historical data and process facts. Conducts time and motion studies, summarize observations, and analyze the observations. Creates and executes project plans to the schedule for short and long term projects. Creates and maintains pharmacy, production and packaging labor standards. Creates and maintains product flow maps for current and new products. Creates manuals and trains workers in use of new forms, reports, or procedures. Creates, maintains and supports databases in the Manufacturing/Quality areas. Designs, evaluates and recommends changes of data collection forms and reports to improve business processes. Gathers the Bill of Materials for the new products from the Process Development group. Interviews personnel and conducts on-site observation to ascertain unit functions, work performed, methods, equipment, data and personnel requirements. Maintains and refines a lean toolkit that can include: 5S, Kaizen, quick change over, value stream mapping, mistake proofing and line balancing. Maintains and updates the labor standards in the ERP system. Maintains crewing guides for Manufacturing. Recommends methods for waste elimination throughout the plant, and improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Supports establishing labor cost for the product with Finance and Accounting. Performs related duties as assigned. Required Skills: Bachelor s Degree in related field from an accredited college or university, and minimum of two (2) to four (4) years related experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical industry environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PMP Certification and Six Sigma Certification preferred. Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements. Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Business and personal computer hardware and software applications. Creating manuals and training people. CPIM Certification (APICS). Designing and creating databases in Manufacturing / Quality departments. Business and management principles involved in planning, and production methods. Manufacturing equipment, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Software knowledge: MS Office, MS Access, MS Visio, MS Project, JD Edwards, and Cognos. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, and statistical skills. Working knowledge of ERP Systems, Material Requirements Planning, Inventory Management, Product Data Management, Purchasing, Warehousing and Shop Floor Control in a manufacturing industry. Current Company policies and practices, including safety rules and regulations. Skill in: Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, write and understand documentation in English. Establish and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others. Providing excellent customer service with both internal and external customers. Ability to develop and execute the detailed short and long term project management plans. Ability to identify the improvement opportunities. Ability to work with the ERP systems. Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools. Strong written and verbal communication. Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching climbing and walking, vision to monitor, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 50-70 pounds.
